You read that right, this entry is about a place that serves humongous Western Talam Set that is affordable. When I say it’s big, it’s big. NK Grill Kitchen Miri is a restaurant that serves Muslim-friendly, western food. This is their third branch. The OG branch is in Kuching, the NK Grill Kitchen Kuching (located in Matang) and also Mr. Talam (located in Batu Kawa). The Miri branch just recently opened at Bandar Baru Permyjaya Miri shop lots. We got to try their best-sellers and must-try menus, let’s get right into it!
The HUGE Western Talam
Okay, get this.. We had the MEDIUM-sized western talam, and even that was already CRAZY huge! Their Western Talam comes in three sizes, small, medium, and large. While on the subject, the Small Talam serves Medium Talam serves up to 5-7 people, the large serves up to 10 people. With 8 different food on the tray, this medium set is perfect w and best enjoyed with friends and family. So, if you’re looking for a place for iftar this coming Ramadan, add them to your places to-go list!
The Famous Lamb Mandy
Next, we have the Lamb Mandy Rice! Since it’s the best-seller here, we went ahead and ordered the DOUBLE Lamb Mandy. The Mandy dish, better known as Mandi Rice, originated from Hadhramaut, Yemen, which consists mainly of meat and rice with a special blend of spices.
The Mandy Rice here is different because the owner created the recipe from scratch. Aside from having the usual ingredients in Mandy rice, they have their secret ingredient, which I of course do not know. *laughs* I’ve never had Mandy Rice before *wipes tears*, so I can’t compare it to anything, but one thing about Mandy Rice that lives up to its reputation, is it delivers the delightful taste of all the herbs in it. The Lamb, oh my the grilled lamb. It’s super tender and juicy. In my opinion, the gravy too plays an important role in a western dish. The gravy was superb. Hence, no wonder this dish is their best seller.
NK Kambing Bakar Air Asam – A dish adapting to local taste
Ooof, would you look at that! This particular dish is my favorite. The aroma and delicious taste of the Kambing Bakar matches the sour, spicy and salty taste of the Air Asam. It’s truly a combination that amazes the taste buds. I’ll definitely repeat order for this one. The Air Asam is is a recipe made by the owner themself. If you like something sour, spicy and salty at the same time, make sure to try this one!
Overall, the food was all amazing. It’s definitely a great place for a big, family gathering or a friend reunion. With this coming Ramadan, make sure to make your way to NK Grill Kitchen for iftar with your beloved. Take note that they only accept cash at the moment, so make sure you guys get enough cash before coming! I’ll share the menus below for your reference.
