The Ultimate Place to Go For Bubble Tea in Miri!

Hey foodies! The weather has been really hot lately in Miri huh? Wouldn’t it be great to be sipping on some nice bubble tea while munching on freshly-made snacks for afternoon tea? There’s this bubble tea shop located at Miri Times Square called Tea Co. and it is very popular among the locals, especially the youngsters.

Here are a few reasons why you should visit Tea Co. :

#1. Local Brand

Tea Co. which was found back in December 2018, is a homegrown Malaysian brand that was completely built from scratch by the owners. Their concept when opening up this bubble tea shop was to create not only a family-friendly environment, but basically a place whereby both the younger and older generation could hangout during their chill time.

#2. Wide Menu of Bubble Tea Drinks

The owners themselves created the recipes for their drinks menu, giving a wide variety for people to choose from. So, surely everyone would find something of their liking whether it is Fruit Tea or the regular bubble Milk Tea. If you’re wondering what are their signature drinks, it would be their Fruity Burst, Mango Boom and also Fire Bobo, just to name a few. They even took the extra effort to learn the art of producing their in-house made pastries which happens to be Sibu delicacies.

Here’s a list of what we tried during our visit that day:

Fruity Burst

If you aren’t a bubble milk tea fan, no worries there’s fruit tea here for you to try! Their Fruity Burst beverage is a refreshing cup of freshly brewed tea filled with slices of fresh fruits such as orange, watermelon and also apple. Perfect to quench your thirst on any hot day!

Cheezo Dragon Fruit

Next on the list, their Cheezo Dragon Fruit is definitely a must try! I highly recommend this to anyone especially for first timers who aren’t sure what to get here. This drink contains a generous amount of fresh dragon fruits, fresh milk and a layer of sinful, sweet-tasting creamy cheese. The taste of this is just phenomenal! Hands down, one of the best I tasted so far and it really got me hooked! Who knew this combination could work so well together, a match made in heaven indeed.

Cheezo Charcoal Oreo Smoothie

Another drink we tried that is only served for a limited time, is their special menu called Cheezo Charcoal Oreo Smoothie. It has a few layers to it, starting off with some oreo crumbs, cream cheese coated around the insides of the cup and then poured with blended oreo smoothie. Lastly, the drink is topped off with a crazy amount of cream cheese and oreo chunks that is filled to the rims. Something sweet to savour on!

Monday Blue

In addition, we tried their Monday Blue drink which is Fresh Milk served with Lychee Flavoured Jelly. When I first took a sip of it, I was intrigued by the jelly. Never had I tasted anything like it before. Try it out to see what I mean.

#3. Freshly-Baked Pastries

What truly differentiates Tea Co. from other bubble tea shops in Miri is that they provide freshly-baked pastries such as their signature Junvnpiang and Ma Ngi. Sibu folks would definitely find these pastries familiar as it is part of the Sibu Foochow people’s delicacies.

Butter Junvnpiang (also known as “Zhen Dong Bing”)

These lovely looking buns called Butter Junvnpiang are always selling like hot cakes. Customers would buy loads of it to bring back home and enjoy it with a cup of tea. There is another two versions to this Junvnpiang, which are the plain and kaya version. My personal favourite has got to be the butter one because of the buttery layer of slight saltiness and how it is much more fragrant than the other two.

Sesame Ma Ngi

A different texture pastry that Tea Co. also offers is their tasty Sesame Ma Ngi which is a little bit more on the sweeter side of things. It is somewhat like fried fritters, being crunchy tough on the outside but fluffy soft on the inside. The sesame seeds on these Ma Ngi gives it that extra touch of nutty and aromatic flavour. There is also Plain Ma Ngi without any toppings, if you wanna keep the flavours simple. Both of it taste equally good, it really comes down to individual preference.

Tea Co. also sells other snacks such as, Red Bean Sesame Balls, Peanut Sesame Balls, “Angku Kuih”, Egg Tarts, “Ang Ching Peng” and “Mangkuang”. Pretty good selections for an afternoon tea right?

#4. Fabulously Pink Deco, very Insta-Worthy
