There is a breakfast spot I place so dearly to my heart whereby I have my fondest childhood memories and it lies in between one of the old alleys in the town of Sibu.

This shop named Chop Hing Huong has been in business since 1959. A spot serving only one item on the menu but yet good enough to be so comforting to feed any soul and it is called “Dian Bian Hu”. Despite all these years, the taste still remains unchanged. It always gives me that nostalgic feel whenever I dine-in here.

“Dian Bian Hu”, known as a FooChow dish, is made up of rice flour batter, which is poured onto a wok to form a somewhat thick layer of noodle. It is then scrapped off and poured into a flavoursome stock to simmer. After that, the bowl of noodles is being served with broth. Something so simple and delicate!

The rice-noodle dish is being topped off with very generous amount of fish balls, black fungus, cuttlefish, spring onion and also fried shallots.
