This place may be the first Kueh Chap shop ever opened in Kuching. They have been operating this shop since 1985 and has become one of the key iconic places to have a bowl of delicious Kueh Chap in Kuching. They operate in one of the stalls of a cafe called Woon Lam Cafe. The locals normally refer to this place as “Woon Lam Kueh Chap”
The Kueh Chap served here is definitely not something you would want to miss when you visit Kuching. The soup is packed with flavours and you can smell the delicious smell coming out from the soup when the bowl was being served. For our Muslim fans, do bear in mind that they do serve pork so this place is not halal. It is served with pork meat and various other pork parts.
As Kueh Chap is normally served with the meat mixed inside the bowl of soup, you can opt to have the meat separated and served on a different plate. They are both technically the same thing and is normally based on people’s preference.
The pork meat is juicy and tender which pairs perfectly with the soup. If you are a fan of chilli, then you need to try it with the sambal sauce that is served together with the Kueh Chap. The chilli has a unique taste to it and is normally paired with the Kueh Chap. To wrap it all up, if you do drop by Kuching, you should definitely stop by here and try a bowl of their delicious Kueh Chap.
