Happy New Year 2023 my fellow Borneo Foodies! My last entry was on Christmas, and we’re here on New Year’s day. For Christmas, we did 9 Places to Eat for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner the Muslim Friendly version. Now, I’m going to suggest the Non-Halal places to eat in Miri, Sarawak! So here are 9 Places to Eat for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner the Non-Halal version.
Breakfast
Let’s start off the list with breakfast in Miri, Sarawak!
Chang Cheng Cafe 尝城茶餐厅`
First and foremost, Chang Cheng Cafe! One of my newest, favorite Kopitiam to get breakfast. This place just recently open this year, and since then this place has gotten more and more popular among Mirians. Here, they serve Breakfast sets like Egg, toast and coffee, Kampua Mee, Chicken Rice, and many more! Just recently, they added dishes like the Laksa Sarawak and Curry Chicken Rice. Bottom line, you need to check out this place! My personal favorite food to get here is, Mee Kicap Pedas, Teh C Peng, and the Homemade Kaya Toast.

Ali Papa
Next on the list, we have Ali Papa! This place is always full, but their service is fast and efficient. So, you won’t be waiting long. Often time if I come here, I always get a seat. There are many food choices you can get here ranging from American breakfast, porridge, Pan Mee, Kolok Mee, Kueh Chap, and more! My favorite thing to get here is the Spicy Pan Mee from the Pan Mee stall. I’d say this is one of the best places to eat in Miri for their many food choices available!
Ali Papa

Places to eat in Miri – Grandpa Noodle House
Third, we have Grandpa Noodle House! This place is also one of my go-to places to have breakfast! Although they only serve noodles, their dishes are all so good. This is also a place always packed with people. I would highly recommend trying their Indo Mie Noodle. No, it’s not what you think, it’s not instant noodles! It’s homemade noodles with Indo Mie sauce. Their toast here are also superb!

Next, lunchtime!
Lot 18 Cafe
First on my list for lunchtime is Lot 18 Cafe! Lot 18 Cafe is a coffee shop located in Krokop 5 area at a personal building, I believe. This place is quite legendary they said. It’s not your typical, commercial place, but the food here is the bomb dot com! My favorite thing to get here is their Wan Tan Hor with Pork. Oofff, just talking about it now is making me crave for it. Well, just look at that! I highly recommend this place for lunch.

Unusual Hainanese Chicken Rice 鸡的传人
Next, we have the Unusual Hainanese Chicken Rice! This place was formerly known as Li Hai Cafe, but has now changed to Unusual Hainanese Chicken. They have plenty of Hainanese cuisines to choose from. They have Chicken Rice (obvi!), Curry Noodle, porridge and also side dishes like Thai Style Fried Tofu (LOVE, y’alls should try!) and Pork Ribs Curry. Since this place opens from morning till night, you can also enjoy Nasi Ayam at night! It’s not that easy to find Chicken Rice at night in Miri.

Busang Jelini
Last on our lunch list is Busang Jelini! If you’re into a more Nasi Campur kind of lunch, you should totally check out this place. My peeps working in the Senadin area, if you’re looking for a place to enjoy Orang Ulu cuisine, this is your place! Busang Jelini serves various Orang Ulu specialty food. They also have Dinuh here. Other than the various choices of food they have, the atmosphere here is quite nice if you want to have a scenic, quite lunch.

Dinner
Let’s move on to dinner time!
The Superb Cuisine 好味道 Miri
First on the list, is The Superb Cuisine! This is a place you can bring your friends and family to enjoy dinner. They serve a variety of Chinese cuisine. And most importantly, for dishes like Nasi Goreng, Fried Noodle,s and porridge, the portion is crazy big! You can even share. On top of that, the price is reasonable! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat! Yeap, you read that right. I would definitely recommend this place to those who want to bring their parents, friends, or family for a nice dinner here. Just a reminder though, book if you don’t want to be disappointed. This place gets packed quite fast too.

Ah Soon Restaurant
Next, we have Ah Soon Restaurant! This is also another Chinese restaurant that cook really good food. I am in love with their Salted Egg Mushroom and Roasted Chicken! I must say, these are the must tries. This place has space for both outdoor and indoor with aircond, so you can choose which you prefer. If you ask me, this is one of the best places to eat in Miri when it comes to Chinese food!

Maan Cafe & Restaurant
Last but not least, Maan Cafe & Restaurant! The place that serves authentic Bidayuh cuisine! I am so in love with this place because there is Tempoyak. Haha. Obviously, I love it, not just because of that, but the beautifully set interior makes the restaurant’s vibe very nice and chill. It’s definitely a great place to bring your loved ones for dinner. If you do go here, try their Sago Sambal Tempoyak Soup and Tempoyak Goreng! You will not regret it. Oh yeah, they also have other dishes like Nasi Goreng, Mee Goreng, if you don’t feel like having local cuisines. Kudos for the varieties, I must say!
