Joo Seng Cafe is one of the best places to have breakfast in Kuching. It is strategically located at the heart of Kuching near one of the busiest traffic lights. The locals favour this café as it offers reasonable prices for meals and good services.
Joo Seng is famous for its roti bakar and teh tarik. Who doesn’t love a feast of crispy toast in the morning? Complimented by their teh tarik, it is the perfect combination for a perfect breakfast to start your day. Unlike most cafes, Joo Seng chooses to oven-bake its toast until it turns golden brown, rather than using a toaster machine. For me, it is by far the best roti bakar i have ever eaten!
We can see how the teh tarik stands out compared to other cafes as it is easily the frothiest teh tariks out there with all the overflowing foams, which makes it more appealing for me. The after-effect of pouring the milk tea through the air between two cups until it reaches the right texture produces overflowing foam consisting of tiny bubbles surrounding the cup. Personally, the teh tarik is one of the best, especially when served cold!
Joo Seng Cafe has been around since the 1960s which was founded by Mr Foo Siang Swee and family. Joo Seng is a special place, offering food for locals from all walks of life as their food menu is well-welcomed by the Muslim community such as Fried Chicken Rice, Mee Jawa and Laksa Sarawak.
Often crowded, you can find customers of diverse cultural background sitting side by side enjoying their meals. This truly signifies the respect between cultures as well as tolerance with each other in the most harmonious way possible, by sharing a meal together.
